What better way to spend a chilly Thursday afternoon in London, than playing themed mini golf in a warehouse? Well that is exactly what we thought last week! Junkyard golf, is a cracking good time, so when a couple of friends were up in London, we decided to give it a go!
We turned up to the Junkyard Golf Club, at the Truman Brewery just off Brick Lane, in Shoreditch, on a cold Thursday afternoon. I had heard that it gets booked up pretty quick, but at 3pm it was empty – so the perfect time to go! We even got an extra round, as it was quiet!
You have 4 courses to choose from:
Bozo – a circus themed course, with creepy clowns.
Pablo – a music themed course.
Gary – boasting a UV rave.
and Bruce – the movie course. We chose Bruce.
Having seen the courses, it looks like Bozo is the biggest, but all of them looked pretty cool.
It costs 9.30 to play a round, and depending on how many people are there, you can take as long as you want.
The venue also has two bars, where you can get cans to take round the course, on your golfing adventure. Bruce boasted themed holes such as spa face, shawshank detention and Tinderella, and was so much fun to play. I was incredibly happy as they had some garage music pumping as we made our way round, in almost darkness. It was a really good laugh!
After our 2 rounds, we headed to Chill bar opposite, which had happy hour on still – 2 beers for 4 quid! So safe to say we ended up staying in there for quite a while! We then headed to Dinerama for some food and a few more beers. Dinerama is near Old Street station in Shoreditch and is one of my new favourite places. It’s an indoor street food venue, with a bunch of places to choose from. I can’t remember where we got food from in there, but I had a pork roll and it was amazing! Either amazing, or just tasted that good because of all the cheap beer consumed.
We then headed up to Dick’s Tea Bar, an apres inspired ski bar pop-up, most famous in Val D’lsere, and continued our evening with more beer.
